Thinning Hair: What You Can Do (And What You Can't Undo)

Also: Best Beard Trimmers on YouTube; Are Flushable Wipes Actually Flushable?; plus recent work in Esquire, Robb Report, and The Set Set

Happy February, Blue Princes. I’m back with our latest SPIFFY episode, and a foundational one at that:

Listen on: Apple / Spotify / YouTube

I’ve written and recorded plenty about men’s hair loss (and all the ways to bring it back), so having a podcast episode felt equally important for Blue Print + SPIFFY. In this ep, I’m moving over to the guest seat, and producer Hady is at the hosting helm; he’s asking me pivotal questions about hair thinning, making it one big comprehensive download on the topic.

And of course, you can check out all our other hair thinning / growth articles on Blue Print, too.

Big thanks to episode sponsor, Hims.

And, shoutout to the product of the episode: the roster of Davines shampoos, conditioners, and stylers that help target your exact hair type and need. (I feel like I’m writing advertising copy here but it really is proof that haircare isn’t one size fits all.)

Are Flushable Wipes Actually Flushable? Search Engine Investigates

Please also listen to this week’s episode of the Search Engine podcast, which focuses in on the myth of the flushable wipe—and answers that question we’ve all been wondering: do these things actually clog our sewers?

The story has twists and turns, but ends on a satisfying note for anyone out there who likes a sensitive swipe. It also introduces us to the term “fatberg”. Listen and learn… Eughhhhh.

Give it a listen: Apple // Spotify

Watch: The Best Beard Trimmers on YouTube

As for our latest on YouTube: another foundational focus, this one the best whisker whackers. I did a similar video when we launched, which zeroed in on the lineup of Multigrooms from Philips Norelco. But for this, I wanted to build out a proper beard trimmers guide. This one features Andis, Braun, Hatteker, Panasonic, and Philips Norelco:

Please like, subscribe, comment, click links, etc. You know that stuff is currency for us!

Client Work: Esquire, Robb Report, and The SET SET

It’s been a busy January for client work. For starters, I’m back in Esquire for the first time since 2016. They were my very first freelance client, for about 8 months before I signed on with GQ. I did a few deep dives with them on cosmetics stuffs… face fillers, botox, and (of course) hair transplants:

Also, Robb Report published my story from a December trip to Paris with Krigler and the Peninsula Hotel Paris—about their ultra luxe crystal-vesseled, leather-pouched perfume, Lovely Patchouli 55 Extrait:

Yes, I proudly own one of the 200 bottles of this $3800 juice. (Work perk—service journalism pays in kind, see.) Come over and sniff it sometime!

Last up, my newest client is also an instant favorite: The SET SET spotlights the craftspeople of the film and TV industry—costuming, sets, hair/makeup. So of course, I’m covering the grooming aspects.

I recently interviewed Ivana Primorac, hair/mu artist on projects like Barbie, Sweeney Todd, Darkest Hour and the upcoming Narnia; she was lead hair/mu on Jay Kelly:

That followed my interview with the hair/mu team from Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere:

And I’ll have a third interview up this week. Stay tuned.

Thanks as always for reading, viewing, listening, clicking, etc etc. If you do listen to the pods, I’d appreciate if you gave us a 5-star review in your platform of choice (and subscribe, of course). It’s the podcast equivalent of “like and subscribe”—better yet, please leave a glowing review with the 5 stars.

This month, we’re working on a bunch of videos per usual, a couple more podcast eps in the queue, plus we’re redesigning our website; that way, we can publish more more more (and quickly). We’ve got a few big personal milestones too, some of which you’ll hear about in due time.

Have a cozy February.

Thanks for reading.
